OTTOMAN GRÜW

OTTOMAN GRÜW is the sulfurous technoid project of Brussels-based artist Jean Grünewald, founder of MUTANT MODALITY label and 1/2 of A BODY WITHOUT music duo. Spread at the crossroads of industrial-minded electronic music, OTTOMAN GRÜW’s identity combines dancefloor body-control mechanics with post-punk adjacent experimentalism and noise mayhem. Through live performances to music production and DJ sets, the artist delivers a cathartic blend of rhythmic equations - spanning the spheres of Techno, Electro, EBM and Ambient. With a constant need for renewal in his work and a distinctly interdisciplinary inspiration leaning toward futurisms, the sound of OTTOMAN GRÜW explores themes related to body horror, post-human and alienation/transcendence. This research for a boundary-pushing aesthetic has led the artist on stage across Europe with the likes of Orphx, Unhuman, Reka and Hypnoskull - amongst others. With solo cutting-edge releases on respected imprints such as Sarin’s X-IMG or Umwelt’s New Flesh/Rave Or Die, as well as participation in collective endeavors on underground labels like Soil (alongside JK Flesh, NX1…) ; Gwi Myeon (alongside Kris Baha, Boyd Schidt… ) ; Khoinix and his own platform Mutant Modality, OTTOMAN GRÜW actively contributes to the global scene with a substantial sonic output manifesting his adeptness at traversing the expansive realm of subversive electronic music. With support from some of the scene's most respected DJs such as Ancient Methods or Dave Clarke, OTTOMAN GRÜW is an artist to keep an eye on.
